THE Swaziland Road Safety Council has vowed to stage more roadblocks despite the nation's outcry... Be ready for more roadblock

Road Safety Officer Emmanuel Mbingo said the exercise was meant to save commuters' lives, adding that they should appreciate it. He apologised for the inconvenience and said members of the public should not interpret it as intentional.

The officer stated that the principal objective of the exercise was to instil and encourage responsible road usage among motorists, as well as helping to ensure the upliftment of road safety standards in the country.

“The Road Safety Unit pleads with members of the public to bear with the officers while they endeavour to protect human life and property,” Mbingo said.

The officer stated that between September 19 and 27 this year, a total of 329 vehicles were found to be on the wrong side of the law. Mbingo also said, since the operation began, statistics indicated that road safety standards had improved.
