WHITEFIELD -- White Mountains scored goals in each half to shut out Inter-Lakes on Monday, 2-0.

Stetson Hicks netted the game's first goal, when Steven Deveau came down the right sideline, passed the ball back to Hicks, who fired it into the left side of the net.

Nick Santy added an insurance goal in the second stanza. With 1:45 left in regulation, Santy stole the ball at midfield, came down the right side and put the ball in the upper left hand corner as the keeper came out to stop him.

"Most of Larcomb's saves were routine, but one comes to mind," said WMR coach Doug Kilby. "From 40 yards out, an Inter-Lakes player hit the ball off the side of his foot hard. Larcomb jumped up and flipped the ball over the bar.

"We had a little adversity today, as we lost a player after homecoming last weekend. Deveau played well replacing him, he was all over the front line."

"We persevered today," WMR coach Rick Force said. "Spencer was not feeling well today and had to sit out of the match. The guys really pulled together to avenge an earlier season loss to Moultonborough, one of the top teams in our class.

"Everyone stepped it up and they should be proud of our team effort. No one shot the round of their life but everyone managed the course well and did what they needed to do to contribute."

"It was a day of wet and difficult conditions. Nobody on any team played particularly well," Force said. "Profile is a very good team and are difficult enough to beat on a dry course at a neutral site. Some of our guys needed this experience of playing in tough conditions. We are happy to come away with one win for the day."
