The board of directors of Delta Dental of Arkansas has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Christian Community Care Clinic for the purchase of dental equipment.

The clinic was formed in March of 1999 by a group of Saline County residents, a spokesman reported. It is a nonprofit, health-care ministry, striving to improve the quality of life of the medically uninsured people of Saline County. The clinic is located in Benton.

CCCC reportedly plans to use the monies from the Delta Dental grant to purchase a new autoclave for sterilizing dental instruments, Kae Wisler reported.

“Delta Dental commends the Christian Community Care Clinic on the wonderful work they do, and we are delighted to be able to offer this financial assistance to them," said Dr. Herman Hurd, dental director and vice president of professional relations for Delta Dental.

Delta Dental has been writing group dental insurance since 1982 and currently serves more than 900 participating Arkansas dentists, 2,200 employer groups and 1,200 members.

The company reportedly is the largest dental benefits provider in the state and is a member of Delta Dental Plans Association, a national network of independent, not-for-profit dental service corporations specializing in providing dental benefits programs to 46 million Americans in more than 80,000 employee groups throughout the country.

Clinic volunteers expressed appreciation to Delta Dental for continued support. Delta Dental previously donated $40,000 that was used to purchase dental chairs and other equipment for the treatment rooms.
