LAFAYETTE (KRON) -- Attorney Daniel Horowitz broke down in his first on-camera interview since discovering the body of his wife, Pamela Vitale, at their home on Saturday.

"I fell to the ground and I saw her, and I understood everything," Horowitz said. "I knew she was dead. But still, I kneeled down and touched her to see if she was okay."

"You scream. You cry," Horowitz said. "But I basically sat with her, and I just told her, 'I love you, and you're beautiful.' Just whatever things you say to somebody you love because to me, at that point, all that was there was the person I love."

Horowitz says he understands that police will scrutinize him as they search for his wife's killer. But, he also says he had no motive to kill the woman he describes as the love of his life.

Horowitz also said he has nothing to gain from his wife's death. He himself owns the 12 acres the called home in Lafayette and said Vitale had no life insurance and a very small pension.
